It facilitates fitting custom-made orthotics and, more importantly, challenging feet. 

These wide-load shoes have a fiberglass shank that enhances torsional rigidity and supports the boot’s waist. It also helps the forefoot flex in the correct position. The nitrile rubber sole in the Wide Load boots is slip and heat-resistant to 300oC.
