Everything we do at XL feet, we do just like other shoe merchants, except we do it on a bigger scale. As in, we do it on a massively bigger scale. For example, when you come to us for dress shoes, you can find oxfords, wing tips, loafers, you name it - and all in massive sizes - all the way up to 21!

By the same token, we offer extra large shoes for the gym, for hiking, for boating, for running, even for specialty uses like golf. In addition, we offer extra large slippers and socks and other footwear. Best of all, we offer all of these footwear in the brands you love and trust. There are no knock offs here, just the real deal. We’re a true solution to the popular issue of dealing with having extra large feet and not being able to find shoes that fit.

When it comes to work boots, we offer just as much. In sizing, fit and brand we offer tons of work boots in extra large sizes so you can find a fit for anything. We offer huge sizes, but what happens when you need extra wide widths as well? The good news is, if you need extra wide work boots, you’re in the right place.

Better Comfort

The first thing you will notice when you get yourself a pair of extra wide work boots is that their comfort is vastly enhanced. Most work boots are made for guys with regular width feet, say a size D, even at extended sizes. What you’ll notice is that even if you match your size, if you don’t match your width, you’re going to be in for a trip.

Boots that are too narrow will pinch your feet, squeeze your heels and overall diminish your comfort. Frankly, if the shoes are too narrow, you won’t even be able to wear them. With a pair of loafers you might be able to tough it, but with a pair of full grain leather steel toe work boots, you just won’t be able to look the other way.

Better Support

It doesn’t matter if the boots you buy are slip-resistant, are steel toe, waterproof, come with a shank and a fatigue-resistant insole or shock absorbers, if they are too narrow. The thing about support is that the boots (or any footwear) needs to fit in order to offer that support.

Boots that are slip-resistant are really not going to be slip-resistant if they squeeze you because you will be off balance. Boots that have shock-absorbing insoles will get compressed and lose their elasticity and cushion if the boots are too tight. The point is, if you need extra wide work boots, get them, or you will be sacrificing other functionality of your footwear.

No Pain

This specifically applies to steel toe boots or boots with a safety toe. Realistically, you will be uncomfortable if your boots are too narrow anyway, but this makes getting boots in the right width an absolute imperative and not a suggestion.

Boots with a steel or safety toe will make your life unbearable if they are too narrow. You will rub your toes raw inside the toe box, and the safety toe that is designed to protect you will become a prison. Do the sensible thing and get work boots for wide feet or a wide square toe set of work boots.

Increase the Longevity of the Boots!

So far in this article we have only mentioned the negative impacts that narrow boots will have on the wearer, but the truth is that improperly sized boots will experience their own set of detriments. You see, it isn’t just the boots that constrict your feet; your feet will inflict their own damage on the boots.

The seams will be stressed; the sole will start to separate from the upper; the upper may deform. The liner will wear away, the insoles will compress or wear, and if there is a waterproof membrane, stress to it may cause the boots to lose their waterproofing. As you can see, boots that don’t fit properly aren’t just bad for you; you’re bad for each other!
