Here at XL Feet, we make it easy for guys with extra-large feet to find the footwear they need. That doesn’t just apply to shoes and boots, but to anything else you could need in footwear to stay cushioned, supported, and comfortable. That extends to socks and slippers as well.

We’ve already explored some of the reasons that you can’t cut corners when you need boots or shoes. If you need a size 15, for example, it can be downright dangerous if you wear shoes or boots that don’t fit you properly. We won’t bore you with the details here - you probably know them well enough, but we invite you to look through some of our previous blog posts for an exposé on why you should wear boots and shoes in the proper size.

We’ve also previously taken a strong stance on why you should wear slippers in your size, and in fact why you should wear slippers at all. Whether or not you keep a pair of slippers in the house is a personal choice, and there are quite a few benefits for doing so. We’ve gone into them in-depth before, so here we’ll offer you the abbreviated spiel.

Keeping a pair of slippers around the house will increase your comfort while at home. That’s the first and most obvious consideration to make. Really, why does anyone buy anything other than for the ultimate reason that they want it? Slippers are comfortable and cozy, that’s just a fact. It’s also the first, if not subjective reason, that you might want to keep a pair of slippers in your home. The following reasons, well, they aren’t so subjective.

The first of the objective reasons to keep a pair of slippers in your home is to keep it clean. If you keep a pair of comfortable slippers by the door so you can shake off your boots or shoes after you come inside, you’ll be making it easier on yourself in the long run. You won’t be grinding dirt into the carpet and the stairs. Even your tile will stay cleaner. Tile is easy enough to clean, but realistically most of the time accumulated dirt just gets scattered to the edges of the room rather than being removed. The best thing to do is just to avoid it in the first place. If you keep a pair of slippers around that you can put on when you get home, you can prevent the mess in the first place by keeping dirt where it belongs, outside.

You might be thinking at this point that you’ll just wear socks instead if you’re going to leave your boots by the door. While that will prevent the original issue of tracking dirt inside, it’s going to leave you open to other problems. Socks will keep dirt outside, but they will put you at a higher risk of slipping, which in turn will put you at a higher risk of hurting yourself. Even if you never experience anything more injurious than a stubbed toe in the middle of the night, that’s still a condition best avoided. Also, wearing socks around the home instead of slippers puts you at risk of running afoul of the most insidious domestic hazard of all - wet socks. Yes, wet socks strike at the worst of times, and they can be avoided entirely with slippers.

In all seriousness, you’ll also wear your socks out way more quickly if you wear them without slippers, which is a pain. Also, if you’re looking for size 15 slippers, you’ll need all the help you can get. Allow us to be frank. If you need size 15 slippers, you need size 15 socks, and both are hard to find. Are you going to wear out your size 15 socks prematurely when you could just be wearing slippers with them to extend their useful lives? Wearing socks without slippers is going to accelerate their deterioration. Plush, soft socks can go from being comfortable and cushioning to worn, threadbare and hole-riddled in only a few short months of wearing them out. So, if it’s hard for you to find size 15 slippers and socks in the first place, don’t be wearing out those hard to find socks before their useful lives are over. Preserve your socks - wear slippers.

Maybe you’re thinking you’ll just go barefoot. If you go barefoot, you’ll keep dirt outside, you won’t wear your socks out prematurely and you’ll never experience wet socks, either. It’s like you have the problem solved.

Wrong. While you can get away with going barefoot in the home (who’s going to stop you?) you’ll be putting yourself at a higher risk of developing conditions like athlete’s foot or other fungal infections. It doesn’t mean you will get it, but the less exposure the better. Plus, if your feet are cold you’ll be compromising your immune system slightly.

Can you just wear socks inside or go barefoot in the home? Yes. Will you be more comfortable if you just bite the bullet and get the pair of size 15 slippers you need? Yes. Will they keep your feet warm, protect you from slips and falls, and keep you comfortable? Also yes. You decide what path you want to take. If you decide you want a pair of size 15 slippers, bravo. We’re right here to have your back. Here are some top picks.

Old Friend Loafer Moccasins

Are these slippers going to win you any pageants? Maybe, who knows. What they will do is keep you warm and comfortable and give you a whole lot of slip resistance. The soles are ruggedly textured for traction and the uppers are hand-stitched for the best comfort you can find. The inside of the sheepskin uppers are obviously lined with fleece, so you’ll stay cushioned, warm and comfortable. They also offer a cushioned midsole for extra support. And if you need a better fit than they offer right off the lot, worry not. These slippers feature an integral cinch tie so you can get the fit you need for the most comfort. Spend a few days with these around your home and you’ll be asking yourself why you didn’t buy them sooner.

Old Friend Bootee

Another great choice in a slipper for guys with extra-large feet from Old Friend right here. We offer these on our site in a size up to 16 and these slippers are just great for comfort and traction. If you need to stay warm, the plush sheepskin will keep you warm, cushioned and comfortable. As anyone who’s ever been outdoors in wool can tell you, there’s nothing like wool for staying warm. If you’re in a particularly cold environment, you can even roll up the sides to give your ankle some extra insulation. They’re versatile, adaptable and comfortable. In addition, the soles, like the previous model, are textured for an extra degree of grip. If you like this model, you can get it in a lighter color from the one shown above. Just take this link right here to see the exact same slipper shown above but in a more classic tone, somewhat like nubuck leather. Maybe they’ll even make a good match for your nubuck work boots.

Acorn Textured Moccasin In Black Berber

Here’s another great option for guys with extra-large feet who need to get through those cold winters with a size 15 slipper. If you’re looking for comfort, warmth, cushioning and traction you’ll get them all right here in this model. The textured fabric upper has a soft fleece lining that will wick moisture, so these slippers won’t just keep you warm, they’ll keep you dry. That’s a plus if you ever have problems with your feet sweating. These slippers feature a memory foam insole over EVA which is both lightweight and supportive. The outsole is nonslip yet still lightweight, so you can wear these shoes comfortably around any room in the house. They’re a great option if you’re looking for a pair of size 15 slippers that don’t need to offer you too much extra insulation. If you run hot, these might just be the ticket to keep dirt out of your house.

Acorn Romeo II

These sheepskin slippers by Acorn bring you some of the most comfortable features out there. The sheepskin uppers cushion and insulate your feet just as the models explored above but in a somewhat slimmer profile. They’re something like a middle ground between the Old Friend models above and the Acorn Moccasin with investigated immediately previous to this. Warm, comfortable, and even hypoallergenic, these are a great pair of slippers that you can keep around the house to stay comfortable and warm. One last night - their weatherproof outsoles are perfect for providing serious traction. Not only will you never have to deal with wet socks, but you’ll also be more protected from slips.

 Propet Preferred Cush’N Foot

These slippers feature some real technology. They offer you neoprene uppers - that’s the same stuff that fishermen and hunters use to keep warm in the water when it freezing - literally freezing - outside. Sometimes the only thing between a duck hunter or a trout fly caster and 34-degree water is a layer of a few millimeters of neoprene. Let us tell you from experience, neoprene is no gimmick. This material can keep you warm, really warm, when the temperatures drop. Neoprene is also unique for being highly flexible. It will form to the contours of your foot while insulating all the time. Neoprene can also be breathable, so it can keep you warm without causing you to overheat. These slippers also offer you the benefit of polyurethane outsoles so you can never miss a beat around the house. Stay warm and protect yourself from slips and falls - these slippers just bring it all.

Acorn Slipper Sock In Gray Ragg Wool

Alright, we’re going to meet you sock guys about halfway with this one. We did go on a tirade against wearing socks alone in the house, but we’ll make an exception for this particular case. These socks won’t bring you all of the benefits of slippers, but they will offer you a few advantages over regular socks, so we’re happy with the middle ground.

They won’t protect you against bumps as well as slippers, but they do feature a full-grain leather sidewall, and that’s pretty darn tough. Also, you won’t be slipping around in these the same as in a pair of cotton socks. Also, the ragg wool uppers will keep you warm just about as well as anything else out there.

Moreover, we recognize that some people are just more comfortable in socks, or just generally without shoes. For you guys, we’re happy to offer this choice. There’s no need to compromise on everything, so if you want some of the benefits of slippers but aren’t comfortable in “shoes” then you can give these a try.

So there you have some solid choices in size 15 slippers for guys with extra-large feet. It’s not an exhaustive list, though. If you aren’t drawn to these options feel free to check out this page right here on our site where all of our slippers for extra large feet are located.
